Theodoros Theodoulidis Professor, University of Western Macedonia, Greece

Dr Theodoros Theodoulidis received the Diploma degree in Electrical Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1992 and the PhD degree from the same University in 1997. In 2000, he joined the Mechanical Engineering Department, University of Western Macedonia, Greece and in 2013 he was appointed a position of Full Professor. His research interests focus on theoretical studies and calculations of electromagnetic fields with emphasis on eddy current testing nondestructive applications and power systems. Apart from his extensive theoretical work he has also conducted many eddy current inspections in the Greek power and petrochemical industry as a certified inspector.

Nikolaos Poulakis Professor, University of Western Macedonia, Greece

Dr Nikolaos Poulakis received his degree in Physics from the University of Athens, Greece, in 1988 and his doctorate degree from the Technical University of Athens, Greece, in 1997. His doctoral thesis focused on the study of the optical properties of high temperature superconductors. In 1999 he joined the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) in Grenoble, France, as a post-doctoral researcher, under a European “Marie Curie” grant to study the magnetic properties of superconductors and organic conductors with NMR/NQR. In 2001 he joined the Electrical Engineering Department of the Technological Educational Institute of Western Macedonia at Kozani, Greece (merged with Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of University of Western Macedonia since 2019). He is now a Full Professor and teaches Electrotechnics. He is currently working on eddy current precision measurements and on the application of high-temperature SQUID magnetometers in electromagnetic nondestructive evaluation.

Athanasios Kyrgiazoglou Post-Doc Researcher, University of Western Macedonia, Greece

Dr Athanasios Kyrgiazoglou received the diploma degree in Material Science Engineering from the University of Ioannina in 2014, MSc degree in Welding Engineering and NDI in 2017 and the PhD degree from the University of Western Macedonia in 2021. He is a post-doctoral researcher since 2021 and his research interests focused on the application of the eddy current inspection in ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic materials. He is working in research programs, and he teaches as Adjunct Lecturer at Mechanical Engineering Department as well at Chemical Engineering Department in University of Western Macedonia.

John Bowler Professor, Iowa State University, USA

Dr John Bowler has been at Iowa State University since the fall of 1999. He has a joint appointment as Senior Scientist with the Center for Nondestructive Evaluation and Professor in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Prior to working at ISU, he was at the University of Surrey, England. Dr. Bowler received his M. Sc. in Science Education from the University of Keele, England in 1980 and his Ph. D. in Physics from The University of Surrey in 1984. His main research interests are in electromagnetic methods of NDE and the properties of electrically conducting composite materials. In addition, he has published articles on the suppression of distortion in loudspeakers, the design of magnets for magnetic resonance imaging and the dynamics of rarefied gases. The work on electromagnetic NDE focuses on new and improved inspection methods for the detection of cracks and corrosion in aircraft and nuclear power plant. He has developed theoretical and computational models to support developments in eddy-current inspection hardware. Dr. Bowler is a senior member of IEEE.

Yao Luo Associate Professor, Wuhan University, China

Dr, Yao Luo is Associate Professor in School of Electrical Engineering and Automation, Wuhan University, Wuhan, China. He received the diploma degree in Communication Engineering from Wuhan University in 2006. From 2007 until 2012 he received the M. Phil and the PhD degrees from the Department of Electrical Engineering of Wuhan University. In 2015 he joined the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation as a Lecturer, and he is now Associate Professor since 2018. In 2019 he visits the University of Western Macedonia under a visiting scholarship from China Scholarship Council. His research interests focused on the theoretical studies and calculation of electromagnetic fields.

Fasnakis Georgios, MSc Student, University of Western Macedonia, Greece

Fasnakis Georgios was born in 1998 in Kozani, Greece. He is a student of the Postgraduate Program «Welding Engineering and Non-Destructive Inspection», of the University of Western Macedonia, Greece. He received the Diploma degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Western Macedonia, in 2022. The subject of his thesis was the sample thickness characterization with Puled Eddy Current method. His research interests are Non-Destructive Testing of materials with Eddy Current method and Welding Engineering.
